CFL DFS Picks and Cheat Sheet for Week 21 on DraftKings

CFL Betting: CFL Bets and Parlays for Week 16

We have another Saturday doubleheader to attack from a betting perspective, with the first game featuring the return of a starting quarterback from injury in a matchup against a backup. We also have the Tiger-Cats as big home favorites in the nightcap, a game where several of their offensive stars have a promising outlook.

Read on for a look at which Week 16 CFL betting scenarios catch my eye on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Ottawa Redblacks (Saturday, Sept. 20, 3:00 p.m. ET)

The Blue Bombers head into to his game in the unusual position of having to scratch and claw to try and ensure a playoff spot. At 6-7, Winnipeg is in danger of remaining on the outside looking in when the regular season wraps up in a few weeks. The fact they have to go on the road with backup Chris Streveler at the controls instead of Zach Collaros (head) makes that task harder for the moment and renders Winnipeg a modest road underdog.

The Redblacks, meanwhile, are commemorating the return of Dru Brown to the field after a multi-game absence due to a knee injury. Brown had played well overall before his absence, completing 72.7 percent of his passes and posting a 12:5 TD:INT. However, time will tell if Ottawa is making the right move at QB for the moment, as backup Dustin Crum had begun finding his rhythm and just compiled 365 total yards and three total TDs in Week 15.

Meanwhile, Streveler had his own moment in the sun in a loss last week, as he posted 323 total yards and both a passing and rushing TD versus the Tiger-Cats. The veteran signal-caller has now had a full week of first-team reps at practice and is highly mobile, making him a wild card that can stress a defense on his own in addition to doing so by connecting with his many weapons through the air. And, on that note, Streveler and his pass catchers are in a good spot against a Redblacks defense that’s surrendered 284.0 passing yards per game and 23 completions of 30+ yards.

While the Bombers’ status as underdogs might ultimately prove accurate, we should be in for a competitive game with Winnipeg having plenty to play for. Streveler has enough experience and weapons to keep his team within 10 points, so we’ll use the Alt. Spread feature to our advantage and give the Bombers more breathing room while pairing that with a yardage prop Streveler is highly capable of hitting.

Edmonton Elks at Hamilton Tiger-Cats (Saturday, Sept. 20, 7:00 p.m ET)

The Tiger-Cats are sitting in a favorable position as the postseason rapidly approaches, with Hamilton coming into this Saturday night clash sporting a comfortable lead over the Alouettes in the East Division by virtue of its 8-5 record. Bo Levi Mitchell is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career, and he continues to be surrounded by an embarrassment of riches at the skill positions.

The Tiger-Cats were a pass-heavy team for much of the season, but the last two weeks have seen versatile running back Greg Bell get an extended opportunity to show off his rushing chops. Hamilton has been able to take some pressure off Mitchell in a pair of wins over the Alouettes and Blue Bombers, leading to Bell accruing 42 carries for 293 yards and a pair of rushing TDs in that span while continuing to shine as a pass catcher out of the backfield.

For his part, Mitchell is still piling up the numbers, and he now sports a sparkling 26:7 TD:INT for the season. While the heavily favored Tiger-Cats should eventually be able to lean on the running game in the second half in this game as well, Mitchell should have his opportunities to feed his deep group of receivers and slotbacks plenty early on, considering Edmonton is allowing a league-high 296.1 passing yards per game, a 72.6 percent completion rate and a co-league-high 24 touchdown passes.

Bell has rushed for at least 46 yards in all but two games this season, while veteran slotback Tim White has recorded at least 31 receiving yards in all but two contests as well. Consequently, a three-leg SGP that simply banks on a Ti-Cats victory and both of those players getting to at least the 30-yard mark in rushing and receiving is an interesting way to go.
